Museum: Museu Oscar Niemeyer, Curitiba Brazil

THE EYE MUSEUM - MUSEU OSCAR NIEMEYER, CURITIBA, BRAZIL

Nobody can resist the all-powerful eye, this architectural marvel designed by Brazilian starchitect Oscar Niemeyer, a structure that combines elements of both transparency and mystery.

Nobody can resist the all-powerful eye, this architectural marvel designed by Brazilian starchitect Oscar Niemeyer, a structure that combines elements of both transparency and mystery.

Also known as the Eye Museum for its characteristic shape.

This exotic building is painted with whimsical dancing figures in bold colours. Rotating exhibits highlight Brazilian and International artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The Museum is a brisk 30-minute walk from the city center, or one can take the Linha Turismo.

The Museum was completed in 2002 and represents a beautiful, lyrical composition, an arrangement of rounded curves, tunnels, and spiral ramps in vibrant colours that hold the main museum building above an impressive pool.

Inspired by the local Araucaria Tree, the museum, made of reinforced concrete and ceramic tiles, features transparent glass walls.

The building appears to float over a reflecting pool infused with the colours and forms of the blue sky and clouds above.
