Documentation

Once the date is set, the next step is to start the paperwork requirements. A certain procedure is required:

Couples in desire to get married on Santorini must have permission from the president of the community
Both bride and groom to be must bring a copy of their birth certificate
A responsible declaration is necessary as well, which will prove that there are no obstacles for the couple to be married.
The notification of the wedding must be posted on the announcement board of the community for 7 days.
After seven days, when the notification has been released, the couple must take the license from the president of the community
If a couple already obtains a license, authorized in their country of origin, they will not be obliged to bring 1, 4, and 6 justification notices. If this is the case, an application stating that they wish to have their wedding in the community of Thira is necessary. It is advised to have the authenticated Greek translation of all foreign legal documents
