In 1997 a remarkable artist, entrepreneur and tea lover Zhang Jin Jie AKA JinR abandoned her career in classical music to create a space that epitomised the neoclassical Chinese soul, gracefully balancing between epicurean hedonism and psychedelic zen.
She wanted to create a business that would reflect and indulge her many passions.
The Green T. House is precisely that, a "tea experience" that encompasses dining, music, art, architecture and the aforementioned leafy beverage.
JinR started off with provocative tastes such as caviar with rose petals and sophisticated tea blends, and then gradually moved to enhancing the Green Tea House's spirituality with Spa services and artistic events.
Her success has led to the opening of a second outpost in the outskirts of Beijing, though it is still the flagship Tea House that seduces locals and savvy visitors.
